A small “Box Seller” receives global award for Quality? Must be the victim of a Scam

This is exactly what I feel when a PC reseller in Maldives wins awards almost 3 consecutive years for quality. There are so many, more qualified PC distributors and resellers across the globe. Like IngramMicro or CDW or TechData. But why on earth would a plaque be awarded to a firm in Maldives for selling PCs. If it was beaches, luxury travel or fishing I can understand.

So, about a year back I did some google searching for the credibility of this so called “BID” award for Quality and Blah Blah…. And here is what I found.

1.       Look up google for “business initiative directions” (that is what B.I.D stands for) and you find all sorts of web addresses under different domains listing the so called BID awards. To name a few

http://www.bid-paris.com/en/main.php

http://www.bid-org.com/menu.htm

http://worldquality.org/en/index.php

http://bid-planet.com/conbordes_archivos/index.htm

http://www.bid-quality.com/en/index.php

http://www.bid-qualitysummit.com/en/index.php

This is loads of more websites belonging to BID so they will get you the moment you type “Business Initiative Directions” on google.

2.       Now let’s look at the sponsors of BID awards and the magazines on which they publish about the awards

The Magazines:

http://www.hnova.com

http://www.brandazo.com

http://www.gperson.com/

http://www.centrexp.com/

http://www.neussner.com/

Don’t you find a little awkward that all these magazines publish only news feeds form other sources. They do not have any genuine content whatsoever. Ah… except for BID award news just to amuse you..

The Main Sponsor

http://www.imarpress.com

The website of Main Sponsor is worse. Look at that website, nothing but hyperlinks.

3.       Ok… now the people who pay huge sums of money, travel to Geneva and Paris and fetch these awards.

Do you guys know any company by the name Jorio Coca Cola Corse. You get the idea rigt? And if you look up google for the “Jorio Coca Cola Corse” you will only find this company only on the websites that I have highlighted at the top. Maybe the real name of Coca Cola Company is Jorio Coca Cola Corse. I don’t know! but these guys received the award.

The second type of deceit is when they use a small branch of a huge company and award them. Here is one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkfePm4HoBQ&feature=channel_page

But that is Indian Oil (Mauritius) and they don’t make a big fuss out of it. They have not even mentioned about this particular award on their website.

The third type: Who pay thousands of dollars each year to buy this award, well literally, and showcase it at their sales centre.

 http://www.megachiplive.com/company/news-events/president-congratulates-megachip-maldives

And unfortunately one is a Board member of Dhiraagu and the other one is an Elected MP.

 http://www.megachiplive.com/

I wrote to Megachip about a year ago explaining all what I have found out above but they never bothered. Go see the awards at Megachip showroom, Majeedi Magu

Cheers to all....

I don't know about this Scam but I DO know that NEC's (notebooks) I have had experience with are the worst notebooks I ever had. I know a few more friends who had the same experience too. I would not recommend NEC or Acer to anyone. Spend a few more but get a good one it's worth the money.

Isnt this news damaging to MP-elect Ilyas Labeeb of MDP? I dont like NEC the least but its ironic that a pro MDP news site publishes such a scam. Its good though. Keep it up.

This is definitely a scam!!!

I just received one mail and you can see it below (instead of company name I put XXXXXX). Our company did not participate in this and we are not the best one in quality for sure (jet :) ). Also we have several employees working only for the local market:

Just follow through this email. Reply to them and be surprised and over joyous..

Communicate to them until the point where you would have a clear picture of how much they are asking for. They would normally asked for some administration fees blah blah...

If you want I can be a part of the 'investigation' for you..

I appreciate that, but I have no time for chasing people like this one. Anyway, I received one more email, listed below, but before something really scary. I looked for some sites to report this and I found that kaspersky won this prize and they are proud of that !? !?
See on:
http://www.kaspersky.com/news?id=207576217

If anybody can suggest me the sites where I can report this, please live it here.

One more proof that this is spam is that we do not need any visas to go to Geneva, Switzerland.

Second email I got:

Madrid, 01/02/2011
XXXXXXXXXXX
Attn. Director General
XXXXXXXXXXX

Dear Sir,

Business Initiative Directions (BID) would like to transmit information about the Embassy of Switzerland regarding the visa process for your company's delegation at the BID Quality Convention in Geneva, headed by the General Director of XXXXXXXXXXX.

Having sent two correspondences of great importance to the General Director of XXXXXXXXXXX, one via post and one via email, I wish to urgently request you to send him the following:

On January 12th 2010, the President of B.I.D. Jose E. Prieto sent the official notification via post to the attention of the General Director regarding the Century International Quality ERA (CQE) Award which will be given to XXXXXXXXXXX. On January 24th 2011, I sent you an email reminding you that we had not received any response from you regarding this notification and therefore wanted to know if this email was forwarded to the General Director.

Thank you for posting this information.

I just received an email like this from BID and I initially thought that it's a scam. Well your post just proved it.

Yes, BID and ISLQ is a huge SCAM!!!

I just recieved a corporate letter from BID, indicating that our digital marketing agency has been awarded as an International star for Leadership in Quality / ISQL award whihc will be presented in Paris. It evens says that we will be given a gold award (wtf!? - where is the credentials?? what for??)

I'm an online reputation and SEO expert as i've been in the digital marketing industry for 12 years. My agency is a local agency and we mainly don't have international work or connections. So this letter is totally out of blue and it is certainly SCAM!!

Ok, here is the real BOMB: OOn the letter, they indicate that we have to pay 4,200 EUROS to participate and get the award :)) Yes, sure mf's, i can roll that 4200 euros and stick it to your a..!!

Don't believe this scam, this BID and ISLQ awards is worthless. If you spend this money to get the award and showcase it, you will make a fool of your brand!!

Best.

Our company, or rather our “Managing director” has received the same invitation. I tried searching from all sides on the internet, isn’t it strange that such a foundation or award giver, isn’t listed in Wikipedia

Ha, so fast forward to 24 July 2017... and I just received the exact same mail. Weird that my company consists of one person, only me... and to receive such an award would be quite outrageous, although I go out of my way to help the needy and communities but not to their extent mentioned. Anyhoo, laughed it off after finding this page. Many Thanks (LITS Swaziland)
